Kano Pillars General Manager, Ahmed Musa (MON, OON), has tendered a heartfelt apology following the violent scenes that disrupted his team’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter with Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) on Sunday evening.
In a statement issued late Sunday, Musa described the incident as “heartbreaking, shameful, and unacceptable,” adding that it does not reflect the values for which the club is known.
“What happened against Shooting Stars is painful and disgraceful. It does not represent the true identity or proud history of Kano Pillars,” Musa said. “This club has always stood for community, passion, and respect. Those principles must never be lost to acts of violence or indiscipline.”
The former Super Eagles captain apologised to the players, coaches, and supporters of Shooting Stars, as well as to the referees, NPFL board, GTI partners, and football fans across the country who were left disappointed by the incident.
He condemned the violence in clear terms, stressing that it has no place in football and that Kano Pillars will cooperate fully with the authorities to ensure that those involved face appropriate punishment.
“We know that saying sorry is not enough. We must show through our actions that this will never happen again,” he said.
Musa also appealed to Kano Pillars supporters to maintain discipline and uphold the club’s long-standing tradition of fair play.
“Our fans are the soul of this club, but true support means standing for respect and honour, not violence. Let this be a turning point for us all,” he added.
He concluded by promising that the club will work to rebuild its image and regain public confidence.
“We take full responsibility and will do everything possible to restore trust and the true spirit of football in Kano and across Nigeria,” Musa said.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the LMC disciplinary committee will review match reports before deciding on the next steps as the world watches with keen interest.
