Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo is set to be re-elected for a second term after winning in all 21 local government areas during Saturday’s governorship election.

Although the INEC was still finalizing figures at its Awka headquarters, official results confirmed that Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) had already surpassed the constitutional requirement of securing the highest votes and 25% in at least 14 LGAs.

Soludo, first elected four years ago, will now serve a second and final term. He defeated Nicholas Ukachukwu (APC), George Moghalu (Labour Party), and 13 other candidates from a total of 16 political parties.

The election was largely peaceful, though reports of vote-buying surfaced. YIAGA Africa estimated voter turnout between 20.28% and 22.92%.

Final Results:

  1. APGA: 422,664 votes.
  2. APC: 99,445 Votes
  3. YPP: 33,652 votes
  4. LP: 10,482 votes
  5. ADC: 8,317 votes
  6. PDP:  1,774 votes
