CREATION OF A NEW STATE IN PLATEAU: SOUTH PLATEAU MOVES CLOSER TO REALITY
A historic milestone has been reached in the journey toward the creation of South Plateau from the present Plateau State. First conceived, presented and defended during the 2014 National Confab, the proponents explained that the retention of “Plateau” in the name is for historical reference similar to South Sudan where the South was created out of Sudan but still retained the Sudan name.
The dedicated efforts of a committed team have successfully propelled the process forward with the presentation of their memorandum, a crucial step toward making South Plateau a reality.
The team, comprising distinguished individuals such as Elder Barr. Umar Shityen, Sylvanus Lot, General John Temlong, Prof. John Wade, Elder Philip Gompang, Fwang’an Jerry Bako, Hon. John Dafan, and Hon. Stephen Jings, among others, has demonstrated unwavering dedication and perseverance. Their relentless commitment to this cause has been instrumental in achieving this significant breakthrough.
