The remains of Hon. Justice Azuka, the abducted representative of Onitsha North Constituency 1 in the Anambra State House of Assembly, have been discovered at the 2nd Niger Bridge days after his disappearance.
Azuka was kidnapped at gunpoint on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, while returning home via Ugwunaobankpa Road in Inland Town, Onitsha. His abduction, which reportedly lasted less than five minutes, sent shockwaves through the political and security landscape of Anambra State.
The Labour Party (LP) chieftain, who reclaimed his mandate after a court ruling ousted PDP’s Hon. Douglas Egbuna, was taken in a swift and coordinated attack. His tragic death underscores the growing security concerns in the region.
Authorities have confirmed the arrest of his kidnappers, who later led security operatives to the location where his body was dumped.
“This is a tragic and heartbreaking loss,” a source said. “Our deepest condolences go to his family, the Obi of Onitsha, Dr. Alfred Achebe, and the entire Onitsha North Constituency 1.”
