The Executive Chairman of Jos North Local Government, Hon.  John K. Christopher has charged the contractors saddled with the responsibility of building the Rishari Butura Community Market to make concerted efforts in building the market within the stipulated time frame.

The chairman gave the charge today during the groundbreaking and foundation laying ceremony held at Angwan Rukuba.

He said this is in line with Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s vision to create a smart city and have neighbourhood markets in all Local Government Areas especially those within the Greater Jos Master Plan.

“We appreciate the Governor,  His Excellency for giving us the directive and approval to go ahead with this project.  This is us keying into his vision to create a smart city. It delights us to do our best in achieving this planned vision of the governor.”

He said building the market will no doubt relieve traders from harsh conditions,  road accidents and other health hazards, thereby providing them with a befitting market space.

The chairman also charged security operatives to intensify their presence to ensure a safe space for workers, machines and materials.

In his remark, the Ujah  Anaguta,  H. R. M., Pozoh Johnson Jauro Magaji II commended the chairman for his diligence and exceptional and exemplary leadership qualities in ensuring democracy is brought closer to the people.

He encouraged the community to support the contractors with the needed labour and to work assiduously with them to achieve this feat.

Responding, the Contractor Spade Investment through their boss promised to complete the project within the time frame given, while pleading with the community to accord them the maximum cooperation.

“The market will have about 240 shops, stalls, and warehouses put together and it is fitted with modern sanitary facilities and also a cash point for all financial activity that the traders may engage in be it deposit, withdrawal, or loan processing this will be done by bringing in partner banks in” he added.

The leader of the Legislative arm,  Hon. Ayuba Job applauded the Chairman’s laudable effort in keeping to his promises during the campaign to strengthen and improve the economy of Jos North Local Government Area and make it the business and commercial hub of the State. He added that the construction of the market will go a long way in decongesting the roads and making it safer for traders to transact business in safe environments.

Benard, the Wife of the Executive Chairman Jos North LGC Mrs Tina Mambut J.K, Chief of Staff to the Chairman Hon. Sunday Garba Bunu, among others.
