Former Commissioner of Youths and Sports in Plateau State Hon. James Yakubu is deeply saddened by the tragic events that unfolded in Hwrra Village, Bassa Local Government Area, on Monday, April 7, 2025, resulting in the loss of three innocent lives.
Hon. Yakubu, extends his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the people of Bassa LGA, and the entire Plateau State.
In a statement through his media team, Hon James Yakubu strongly condemned the consistent, unprovoked attacks on innocent citizens in Bassa and other parts of the state. Stating that “senseless acts of violence have left us all in shock and grief. It is imperative that we come together to demand justice and ensure that such tragedies do not recur.”

Hon. James Yakubu called on the Federal and Plateau State Governments to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to book emphasizing that “we must work collectively to create a safer environment for all citizens”.
He further stated that “his thoughts are with the immediate families of the victims, Irigwe nation, the people of Bassa LGA, the government of Plateau State, and the entire citizenry. May we find the strength to bear this irreparable loss, and may God grant us the fortitude to navigate these challenging times”.
