In an era where leadership is often measured by visibility rather than impact, Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, the Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area, stands out as a calm, visionary, and quietly impactful leader. He embodies not just a political figure but also a father, mentor, and development thinker whose contributions are impossible to overlook, even when executed without fanfare.
Today, I join the chorus of voices celebrating his recent recognition as the Best Chairman on Rural Engagement and Championing School Development in Plateau State—an honor that is both timely and richly deserved.
Hon. Tyem, born with a compassionate heart and a natural inclination to uplift the vulnerable, has consistently used his office as a platform for meaningful change, particularly in the education sector. During the recently concluded 2025 JAMB registration exercise, he successfully registered over 1,000 students across the Langtang North LGA, bridging the gap for families unable to afford the registration fees. This bold initiative not only provides hope for young people but also rekindles trust in governance at the grassroots level.
Moreover, Hon. Tyem has facilitated a robust partnership with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to supply desks and other essential learning materials to public schools in the LGA. These efforts have delivered much-needed relief to pupils who previously faced poor learning conditions due to inadequate infrastructure.
Renovation of rural schools is also underway in several hard-to-reach communities, a deliberate strategy by the Chairman to create more conducive learning environments, particularly for children in these areas. These renovation projects and the completion of previously uncompleted primary schools, while executed quietly, are already reshaping the landscape of education in Langtang North.
Hon. Tyem’s commitment extends beyond infrastructure. He has invested in human capital development by sponsoring pupils in academic competitions at various levels. In collaboration with the Plateau State Ministry of Education, he has initiated teacher training programs aimed at enhancing the quality of classroom instruction and ensuring effective lesson delivery.
This multi-faceted approach to educational development—targeting access, quality, and infrastructure—demonstrates his profound understanding of the challenges faced by his constituents and his determination to address them from the ground up.
