The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially announced the defection of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of Plateau State from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
APC National Chairman Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, who is also a native of Plateau, made the announcement on Thursday at the party’s 14th National Caucus Meeting held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
According to Yilwatda, with Governor Mutfwang’s defection, the APC now controls all states in the North Central region, marking a significant consolidation of the party’s political strength.
The governor’s shift to the ruling party follows several days of speculation and political maneuvering that had seen both national and regional stakeholders advocating for his realignment ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
