Governor Uba Sani Hails DSS For Arresting 54 Bandits, Gunrunners In Kaduna

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for its outstanding performance in combating insecurity in the state, following the arrest of 54 suspects involved in banditry, gunrunning, and other criminal activities.

Governor Sani, speaking through the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Sule Shuaibu (SAN), attributed the DSS’s achievements to the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and the newly appointed Director General of the DSS, Mr. Oluwatosin Ajayi.

According to the governor, the Kaduna DSS Command carried out 34 successful operations in the first quarter of 2025, resulting in the arrest of 54 individuals, including serving security personnel, and the recovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition. Among the items recovered were five AK-47 rifles, a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), three Rocket-Propelled Grenades (RPGs), and over 5,000 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, 79 kidnapped victims were rescued and are now in safe custody.

Governor Sani revealed that those apprehended include eight suspected bandits, 22 informants, four gunrunners, two human traffickers, four cyber fraudsters, two vandals, and 12 family members of known bandits.

Notably, a serving security operative from Zamfara State was arrested with 217 rounds of ammunition intended for sale to bandits for N4 million.

Other notable arrests include gunrunners transporting 500 rounds of AK-47 ammunition to Birnin Gwari for N1.5 million, and another carrying over 1,700 rounds bound for Zamfara.
