Plateau State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Ephraim Usman Gar, has promised to partner with the Management of the Plateau State Polytechnic Barkin-Ladi for the development of the institution.
He made the promise yesterday, when he received in audience the Management of the Plateau State Polytechnic on a courtesy visit to his office in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
The Commissioner commended the Management of the Polytechnic for the transformation work going on in the institution saying, “this goes to show that we have men of vision at the helm of affairs in this management.
“I want to tell you that His Excellency is proud of you and we are not going to rest on anything to support this novel course. If we don’t protect, nobody will come from anywhere to protect this institution to us, and we have no other option.
“We are going to work in partnership with you and discuss the work and the vision and mission of this great institution. We are going to see how we can be good partners in bringing development to Polytechnic”, he assured.
Gar, therefore, encouraged all Plateau people to support His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s policies of transforming all sectors for the progress and development of Plateau State because his election was not a coincidence.
Earlier, the Rector of the Plateau State Polytechnic Barkin-Ladi, Dr Clement Selchum Chirman, congratulated the Commissioner on his appointment and that, they were proud of him as the Polytechnic alumnus because of his prompt response to issues.
“We are here because you are alumnus of the Polytechnic and we are proud to identify ourselves with you. On behalf of management, staff, students, and the Polytechnic, we congratulate you on your appointment as Commissioner for the Local Government and Chieftaincy.
“We believe that the Governor did not make a mistake and this demonstrated in how unique you have pilot the affairs of this ministry. Whatever you are recording here, goes to test what the polytechnic can offer.
“That is one thing we need to say very clearly because you know, the public perception really is that polytechnic is of the lower class, that is the misconception, but you have proven them wrong by performing exceptionally well”, he reiterated.
Chirman, assured him of their support for him to succeed in his assignment and that, they look forward to partnering in the area of entrepreneurship and innovation development of their students.
