Nasir El-Rufai’s recent critique of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is both ironic and audacious. His tenure as Governor of Kaduna State was marred by policies and actions that deepened divisions and inflicted hardship upon the populace. El-Rufai’s administration was characterized by authoritarian tendencies, including the persecution of critics and suppression of dissenting voices.
Notably, several individuals who dared to challenge his policies faced legal battles and intimidation, reflecting a blatant disregard for democratic principles.
Furthermore, his approach to governance often exacerbated religious and ethnic tensions. His controversial statements and policies contributed to a climate of fear and mistrust among diverse communities in Kaduna State. El-Rufai’s tenure also witnessed significant financial mismanagement, leaving the state burdened with substantial debt.
His successor, Governor Uba Sani, revealed that the administration is struggling to pay salaries due to the loans accumulated under El-Rufai’s leadership, amounting to $587 million, ₦85 billion, and 115 contract liabilities.
Given this track record, El-Rufai’s capacity to judge the APC or any political entity is highly questionable. His tenure exemplifies a leadership style that prioritizes personal ambition over the welfare of the people, leaving a legacy of division, financial mismanagement, and authoritarianism. It is imperative for Nigerians to critically assess the records of those who seek to position themselves as arbiters of good governance.
Nasir El-Rufai, go and rest! The Lord has weighed you in His balance, and you have been found wanting. Your days of political relevance are over, and very soon, even those who once chanted your name will forget you like the dust swept away by the wind.
Your reign was marked by oppression, injustice, and deceit. You built policies on the foundation of division, and now the same foundation has crumbled beneath your feet.
You pursued power without mercy, yet now mercy has departed from you. You silenced voices of truth, but now your own voice carries no weight. You sowed seeds of hardship and pain, and now you reap a harvest of rejection.
Thus says the watchers: Your name shall fade like a shadow at dusk. Those who once stood with you will deny you. The very system you boasted of will discard you. The land of Kaduna will know peace without your rule, and the nation will move forward without your influence.
Repent while you still have breath, for your throne is gone, and no man will restore it. The doors of power have closed against you, and no key in your hand can open them. Let the wise hear and take heed: God is not mocked! Whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap.
El-Rufai, your time is over. Your political career is dead. The people shall remember you no more.
