Nigerian Army Repels Fierce ISWAP Attack on Gajiram, IDP Camp Hit by Rocket Fire
In a dramatic late-night showdown, gallant troops of the Nigerian Army repelled a deadly assault by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on Gajiram, the headquarters of Nganzai Local Government Area in Borno State, on Monday night.
According to frontline sources, the insurgents launched the coordinated attack around 10:00 PM, hoping to infiltrate the town under the cover of darkness. But they were met with fierce resistance from troops already stationed in the area.
ISWAP fighters were forced to retreat after a sustained gun battle, unable to breach the military defense line.
However, in the course of the confrontation, the terrorists reportedly fired multiple projectiles, one of which tragically landed in an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp, sparking a raging inferno.
Casualty details remain unconfirmed, but the incident has heightened fears in the region, with displaced families now facing renewed trauma.
Security forces remain on high alert, and reinforcements are being mobilized to bolster the town’s defenses and prevent further incursions.
