A group, APC Concerned Group in Wase Local Government Area has accused the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Wase Council Chairman through the Education Secretary of witch-hunting head teachers that didn’t support the candidate of the ruling party in the just concluded Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) election in the locality
In a statement on Sunday, 1st June 2025, the group alleged that the Head Teachers were demoted from their positions to ordinary classroom teachers.
The group alleged further that besides the demotion, the Head Teachers were Trans to remote villages in Wase Local Government that are concerned unsafe
The group accused the ruling party of political intolerance, high-handedness and military mentality. It questioned the kind of democracy the ruling party is practicing saying “What kind of democracy is this, where qualified Headmasters are punished just because they supported a political party?”
In a statement titled: SHAME ON PDP IN WASE, THE INTIMIDATION OF HEADMASTERS WILL NOT STOP YOUR FAILURE COME 2027″, the group listed the affected Head Teachers to include: “Seven hardworking and experienced staff of LEA Wase – Umar Isa, Muktari Isa, Abdul B. Musa, Mohd Ismala Shehu, Bala Mohammed, Kemza, and Haruna Adamu”
It strongly alleged that they “have been demoted, transferred to remote villages, and turned into ordinary classroom teachers simply for showing support to APC candidates during the NUT elections.”
“This wicked action was carried out under the PDP-controlled system in Wase, and we say enough is enough!” It declared
Accusing the ruling party of vindictiveness, the APC Group said “PDP has turned leadership into political revenge. They are silencing opposition by punishing innocent teachers. This is not democracy. This is dictatorship in disguise!”
The group however demanded that “We demand immediate action: Restore the affected teachers to their rightful Headmaster positions”.
It also demanded an “End this political witch-hunt in our schools. Respect the rights of every citizen—regardless of party!”
The group called on the lovers of democracy to act fast to safe democracy from total collapse because “PDP must be held accountable for this injustice!.”
It vowed that “the people of Wase are watching and will not remain silent!”
