Operation Safe Haven Arrests Two Members Of Armed Militia Group, Recover Firearms In Mangu

Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), on Tuesday, arrested two members of a suspected armed militia group while sophisticated firearms were recurved in the Angwan Mata area of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

A statement from the spokesman for the Military Taskforce, Major Samson Zhakom, said the operation which was conducted on Tuesday at about 11:10 AM by troops of Sector 8, was based on credible intelligence regarding the activities of armed groups of Mwaghavul origin in the area.

“The arrested suspects identified as Innocent Nanpan (20) and Sebastine Samuel (20), were found in possession of a fabricated rifle and four cartridges,” he said.

“The suspects, along with the recovered arms and ammunition, are currently in custody for further investigation,” Zhakom added.
