Following the yesterday’s announcement of “Sen Jeremiah Timbut Useni PDP Legacy Group” directing all it’s members to immediately exit the People’s Democratic Party in the state, a cross section of the party’s youths have surprisingly welcomed the directive with wild jubilation
Hon Emmanuel Macham, JP would be recalled issued the directive yesterday in a press statement. Macham ordered all their members to turn in their resignation to the PDP between yesterday and 28th June 2025, a one week window.
The group cited the party’s refusal to “implement the peace accord with Governor Mutfwang, promised on September 19, 2024”
Additionally, “Furthermore, the party’s current weakness at the national level has rendered it unable to present legitimate candidates for INEC Elections nationwide, leaving our members vulnerable”, Macham stated
Speaking with Trill Times News, an ardent PDP Youth Stakeholder, Hon Jinan Innocent celebrated the exit of the Legacy Group. He said “they have nothing to add to us rather they seek relevance and cause unnecessary distractions. The one in my local government especially, we don’t know them as members of PDP and they are people without focus”
Innocent stated further that, “There are people who identify with a political party but they are valueless, they don’t add anything to the party except confusion and distractions, party celebrate their exit”
He however admitted that “Latep Dabang and ID Gyang are grassroots mobiliser who add value wherever they find themselves, these are people you consider as injurious unlike the so-called Useni group”
Responding to the chances of the PDP to retain power in the State come 2027 considering the gale of defection from the party, Hon Innocent boasted that “Gov Mutfwang has 70% chances of reelection.”
He hinged his rating on “the performance of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang within this scope of 2 years, if he continues on this speed, nothing will hinder his reelection. In today’s politics, people are wiser, they exercise their franchise base on credibility”
Kwaltom Sadiq queried “Did their vote count for PDP in the last general election? If yes I will be worried, if no then am not worried?”
The days ahead will certainly be interesting politically especially if the defectors pitch tents with the main opposition, APC in the state
