Today, as Nigerians across the country and around the world celebrate 65 years of freedom, resilience, and unity, the Plateau State Government through the Office of the Secretary to the Government, joins the nation in marking this historic milestone, with a message from Arc. Samuel Nanchang, FNIA, FCIML, and the staff of the Plateau State Government House.
In a statement exclusively released to Trill Times News, the government reflected on Nigeria’s journey since October 1, 1960, when the nation gained independence.
It hailed the courage and sacrifices of those who laid the foundation for a sovereign Nigeria and reminded citizens of the enduring values that continue to bind the country together.
“Sixty-five years ago, Nigeria was born out of the dreams of unity, peace, and progress. Today, we honor the heroes of our past while embracing the promise of a brighter future,” the statement read.
The message also called on Nigerians to rise above differences, work together for a more peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous nation, and actively contribute to the ongoing journey of nation-building.
It lauded the resilience, perseverance, and hope that Nigerians continue to show in the face of challenges, saying these qualities define the true spirit of the nation.
As the green-white-green flag flies high across homes and public spaces, Plateau State urged citizens to celebrate not only the achievements of the past but also the boundless possibilities that lie ahead when unity and commitment guide collective efforts.
