Football fans in Jos will have to wait an extra day for one of the most anticipated fixtures of Match Day 11 in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Professional Football League, as Plateau United’s home clash against Bendel Insurance has been moved from Sunday to Monday, 10th November 2025.
Though just a day’s shift, it has only intensified the anticipation surrounding this meeting between two sides steeped in history and pride.
Bendel Insurance, one of Nigeria’s oldest football clubs, was founded in 1972 in Benin City as Vipers of Benin. The club rose to national prominence in the 1970s and 1980s, winning the FA Cup in 1972 and 1978, and earning a reputation for discipline, flair, and passionate supporters.
Plateau United, on the other hand, was established in 1975 in Jos, originally as JIB Strikers, named after Jos International Breweries, before adopting the name Plateau United. The club will soon become synonymous with hope for the Middle Belt region, nurturing top talents and thrilling fans with attacking football. Their crowning moment came in 2017, when they lifted the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title for the first time in their history, etching Jos into the nation’s football map.
