The day began with a solemn visit to the Palace of the Long Pan by Distinguished Senator Simon Bako Lalong, who represents Plateau South Senatorial District at the National Assembly. Senator Lalong paid his condolences to the Qua’an-Pan Traditional Council, the Pan nation, and the immediate family of the late Long Pan, Miskagam Emmanuel Dabang JP. Describing the late monarch as a patriotic leader devoted to peace and development, Senator Lalong noted that his delay in condoling was due to national duties abroad. The traditional institution expressed gratitude for the Senator’s visit, acknowledging his commitment to the local government.

The atmosphere turned celebratory as Senator Lalong proceeded to commission ten (10) newly drilled hand pump boreholes across Qua’an-Pan North. The initiative, facilitated by Hon. Owen Karyit Dagogot, was met with jubilation, with constituents chanting in Hausa: “Qua’an-Pan North ya samu ɗan majalisa mai tausayi mutanensa” (Qua’an-Pan North has found a compassionate representative).

Senator Lalong lauded Hon. Owen’s tireless efforts and praised him for fulfilling part of his campaign promises within just eight months in office. He described Hon. Owen as a “workaholic leader with a heart for his people.” In his remarks, Hon. Owen expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Senator, APC party leaders, religious groups, and supporters for their presence. He explained that water was a pressing need across the constituency, and as Chairman of the House Committee on Water Resources and Energy, he decided to start with water infrastructure, as he noted, “water is life.”

The General manager of PRUWASSA, Engr. Godfrey Dashuwer who was also present, urged community members to take ownership of the boreholes and protect them from vandalism. He added that PRUWASSA is partnering with stakeholders through the WASH unit of LGAs to maintain boreholes for the use of the populace . The Kopdafoem borehole in Doemak Koplong was officially commissioned as a symbolic launch site for all the ten (10) borehole projects. Beneficiary communities expressed deep gratitude for this life-changing gesture.

Following this, Senator Lalong also flagged off the distribution of 700 bags of fertilizer procured by Hon. Owen for the current farming season. The Senator described the move as a model example of true grassroots representation. In his address, Hon. Owen noted that agriculture remains the primary livelihood of his people, and given the season, he prioritized support for farmers. Acknowledging that the fertilizer may not reach everyone, he appealed for patience and assured constituents of more initiatives to come.

The APC Party Chairman of Qua’an-Pan LGA, visibly excited, hailed the achievements as a major boost for the party, encouraging Hon. Owen to continue setting the pace.

Among Senator Lalong’s entourage were prominent dignitaries, including the MD of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Cyril Tsenyil; Prof. Emmanuel Garba; Dr. Hyginus Dashe; former commissioners, former chairmen, former House of Assembly members, and several others.

It was indeed a day of fulfillment and progress for the people of Qua’an-Pan North.
