In line with his philosophy of tangible economic empowerment aimed at achieving self-sufficiency among the people, the former Senate Minority Leader of the 10th Senate, Senator Simon Mwadkwon PhD, has distributed economic empowerment items to 160 beneficiaries across the six Local Government Areas of Plateau North Senatorial District comprising of Bassa, Jos North, Jos South, Jos East, Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas.
The empowerment items, which included grinding machines and sewing machines, were presented to carefully selected beneficiaries across the Senatorial Zone to enhance their income-generating capacity and keep them economically productive.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Senator Mwadkwon reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of citizens through sustainable empowerment programs. He emphasized that true development is people-centered and must transcend ethnic, religious, and political affiliations.
“Our focus remains humanity. We will continue to empower people, lift them, and make them prosperous irrespective of their background. We must remain united and resist agents of division,” he stated.
Senator Mwadkwon commended the Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, for his visionary leadership and deliberate efforts in transforming the State, particularly in areas such as transportation, agriculture, education, healthcare, and economic revitalization. He called on citizens to continue to support the administration in building a united, secure, and prosperous Plateau.
The Senator urged the beneficiaries to put the items into effective and productive use for their personal benefit and that of their communities.
Earlier, the Director General of the Senator’s Campaign Directorate and two-term Member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Dalyop Mancha, praised the initiative as a timely intervention aimed at reducing hardship and poverty.
Similarly, Hon. Chris Hassan, Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, lauded Senator Mwadkwon for strengthening the party in the zone through impactful empowerment programs.
Dignitaries including Hon. Stephen Pwajok (Executive Chairman, Barkin Ladi LGC), Hon. Markus Kawunda (Executive Chairman, Jos East LGC), Hon. Sati Bature Shuwa (Executive Chairman, Riyom LGC), and Rt. Hon. Nuhu Abok Ayuba (former Speaker, PLHA), Rt. Hon. Dalyop Gwottson, Hon. Chun John Ezekiel Director of Plateau Liaison Office Abuja Directorate, Haj. Jamila Gwandu, Mrs. Gabriel Din, in their separate remarks, extolled Senator Mwadkwon’s contributions to community upliftment despite no longer holding public office. They praised his commitment to the people and urged beneficiaries to make the most of the support received.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of a Peugeot 406 car to one of the Senator’s loyal supporters, Mr. James Nyango, in recognition of his dedication.
Overwhelmed with joy, the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Senator Mwadkwon, praying for divine blessings and assuring him of their continued prayers and support.
