Bashir El- Rufai, son of the embattled former governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has apologized for making the inglorious hate speech targeted against the people of Southern Kaduna
El-Rufai had taken to a now deleted post on X, formerly called Twitter threatening the people of Southern Kaduna whom his father did not only neglected during his eight years in office but allegedly persecuted
The deleted tweet in a response to message reads “it is your stupid mother that is an elephant. And Southern Kaduna residents will keep seeing shege if they continue to attack indigenous Fulani herdsmen. Oloshi”
But on Wednesday, 12th March, Bashir Elrufai wrote “My tweet about Southern Kaduna residents & persecuted Fulani herdsmen was in bad taste & also badly written in an attempt to make a point in the heat of the moment. I apologize for that to those that know me, and are aware that I don’t harbor such sentiments”
Many X users have however rejected vehemently the apology saying that El-Rufai knew what he wrote. A user known as @ Shelong Gabriel replied “Like father like son, you meant every detail of what you wrote!. Such a very d+ark, twist*ed Blvd svcking family you come from. You showed us how twisted and dangerous you are. Persecuted Fulani my foot, more like a mvderi!NG vile Fulani.”
Another one Osagie Oyoha with an account name, @DatNaijaGuy1 also replied “You wrote that tweet from the abundance of your heart. Your father deserves to be tried in @ICC for ethno-religious genocide against the people of Southern Kaduna.”
@Zariyi Yusuf rejected the apology tweeting “You echoed a continuation of what your father, @elrufai, paid Jihadi fighters from Mali and other countries to do to Christians in Kaduna. You know Fulani are not indigenous to Southern Kaduna (more like claiming indigenous Atyap people in Kano), yet you made that false assertion. You are not sorry but being typical of who you are, just as @macban_nigeria had a habit of claiming responsibility for some of the deadly mass killings in the Middle Belt then immediately recant it as a rumour after making their point. The thought that every other person is so gullible to your schemes only exists in your head.”
@Tizzytherebel fired “Well you and your dad Harbor such sentiments and hatred towards the southern kaduna christian people and you both have confirmed it to Nigerians severally. Stop trying to make face now. Extremist!”
A harsher response from @David Popoola “You only inherited the spirit and act of wickedness embedded in your father, thought and discussed at home. It wasn’t a mistake, it’s a clear expression of what’s in your heart. But God will reward your father all he did to southern kaduna people.”
@Timmyjohn69 prayed God not to empower El-Rufai’s family. “It is too late Bashir. The apple never falls far from the tree. Anything a snake gives birth to would be long and crawl. God will not empower you or your father to continue with what he did in Southern Kaduna and elsewhere.”
@Betternow40471 doubted his apology in view of how the same Bashir is still attacking people in his follow up comments to each user’s reply. He observed “Your apology was perhaps due to pressure. It was not because you felt remorse. That has evidently show in your follow up tweets. People who genuinely feel sorry do not alter words or fight back when they apologize.”
However, @Okpokpa Nkpokpa commended El-Rufai’s maturity. He said “I like your humility. Most Nigerians would not do what you just did even though they would expect it from another person. You have shown greatness, sagacity and humility. Nobody is above mistake.”
