Tension is brewing within the ranks of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State, as the Coalition of Tarok PDP Youth in Diaspora has openly rejected what it described as the imposition of a candidate in the ongoing state party restructuring.
At a press conference held Tuesday, 21st October 2025, at Makeri House, Temple Road, Jos, the group expressed deep disappointment and dissatisfaction over the purported nomination of Mr. Nanjul Danbaki as the State Organizing Secretary of the PDP, calling the move “a betrayal of internal democracy and the collective will of the people.”
In a statement signed by Nanzing Lamtur (Zoman), Chairman of the Coalition, the group accused Mr. Danbaki of engaging in anti-party activities during the last general elections, alleging that his selection for a key state position amounts to rewarding disloyalty.
“Rewarding such conduct sends the wrong message to loyal members who toiled and sacrificed for the party’s victory. It undermines discipline, accountability, and the moral fabric that sustains a truly democratic institution,” the statement read.
The coalition further questioned the fairness of the selection process, pointing out that both the current PDP Chairman in Langtang North and the newly nominated State Organizing Secretary hail from the same ward and polling unit, a move they said negates the principles of equity and balanced representation.
The group called on Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the State Executive Committee, and all Party elders to intervene immediately to correct what they described as a “political injustice” capable of destabilizing the PDP in Langtang North and Plateau State at large.
“Our demand is not driven by personal bias but by a genuine commitment to uphold due process and preserve the integrity of our great party,” the youth leaders declared.
They urged the leadership of the PDP to revisit the nomination process, stressing that the future unity and credibility of the party depend on fairness, inclusiveness, and respect for the people’s choice.
Copies of the statement were distributed to key political stakeholders including the State PDP Chairman, Hon. Nanchang Samuel Jatau (SGS), AVM Napoleon Bali (Rtd), Hon. Beni Butmak Lar, Hon. Dr. Joshua Ubandoma Laven, Hon. Nanbol Rimvyat, and the PDP Elders Forum, Langtang North.

United Against the Imposition of Candidates in Langtang North: A Call for Democratic Reform and Internal Party Unity
The Coalition of Tarok PDP Youth in Diaspora expresses deep concern and strong dissatisfaction over the recent development within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Langtang North, particularly regarding the purported nomination of Mr. Nanjul Danbaki as the State Organizing Secretary of our great party.
While we acknowledge Mr. Danbaki’s previous contributions to the PDP, we are shocked and disappointed by his sudden emergence as a “consensus” candidate, a process that clearly disregards the collective will of the people and the expectations of the majority of party faithful in Langtang North.
As committed and loyal members of the PDP, and proud sons and daughters of Tarok land, we totally reject any form of imposition or manipulation that undermines the principles of internal democracy. The strength and stability of the PDP in Langtang North depend on fairness, inclusiveness, transparency, and respect for the people’s choice.
It is also important to note that Mr. Nanjul Danbaki openly engaged in anti-party activities during the last general elections, working against the success of the PDP and its candidates. Rewarding such conduct with a key state position sends the wrong message to loyal members who toiled and sacrificed for the party’s victory. It undermines discipline, accountability, and the moral fabric that sustains a truly democratic institution.
We therefore call on all party stakeholders, elders, leaders, and the State Executive Committee to urgently revisit this development and ensure that justice, equity, and peace prevail. Our demand is not driven by personal bias against any individual, but by our collective determination to uphold due process and protect the credibility and unity of the PDP in Langtang North and Plateau State at large.
Furthermore, we wish to draw the attention of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, to a matter of fairness: both the current PDP Chairman in Langtang North and the imposed State Organizing Secretary hail from the same ward and polling unit. This clearly negates the principles of equity and balanced representation within the party structure.
In the spirit of justice, unity, and progress, we respectfully appeal to His Excellency and all relevant stakeholders to intervene promptly to ensure that the right thing is done so that peace, harmony, and the enduring integrity of the PDP in Langtang North are preserved.
