A heartbreaking tragedy struck the University of Jos early this morning, Thursday, December 11, 2025, as eight students lost their lives in a fatal accident along the Jos–Zaria Road, near the stadium axis.
According to eyewitness accounts, a bus conveying ten UNIJOS students who were returning from an occasion around 2:00 a.m. was violently hit by a trailer. The impact caused the bus to lose control and crash into an electric pole. Only two students survived the crash and are currently receiving medical attention.
The scene of the accident was described as extremely distressing, with emergency responders working through the early hours to manage the aftermath.
This tragic incident has thrown the University of Jos community and the wider Plateau public into deep mourning.
