Amb Miri Timnan Nyantau, thank you for joining us today. Plateau United is facing some challenges at the moment. What’s your assessment of the team’s current situation?
Amb Miri Timnan Nyantau (M.T.N):
“It’s true that Plateau United is going through a rough patch, but this is not unfamiliar territory for the club. We experienced a similar situation last season under Coach Mbwas Mangut and the leadership of former General Manager, Habila Mutla. With a few intelligent additions during the January transfer window, the team found its rhythm again.
However, it is important to also acknowledge that the three-match ban of our star player, Vincent Temitope, significantly compounded the situation. His absence affected our attacking strength, confidence, and overall balance. When a key player is unavailable for such a period, the impact is always felt. That said, I firmly believe that with smart recruitment and internal reorganization in January, Plateau United can bounce back strongly. This situation is far from hopeless.”

What’s your take on the current leadership at the club, particularly in the wake of these difficulties?

“I must sincerely commend the Sporting Director, Barrister Gideon Izang, for showing responsibility and accountability during this period. Football administration requires courage, especially in difficult times, and he has demonstrated that.
I also appreciate the calm and mature leadership of the PFA Chairman, Hon. Prince Suleiman Yahaya Kwande. His appeal for patience and stability is timely and commendable. Both leaders understand that football crises are best handled with composure, not panic, and that approach is critical for the club’s recovery.”

Some supporters believe the situation is beyond repair. Do you agree with that view?

“Not at all. I understand the frustration, but I believe some reactions are exaggerated. Plateau United has survived tougher moments in the past and came out stronger. This phase is no different.
What is required now is collective responsibility from management, PFA, technical crew, players, and supporters. The club still has quality, potential, and structure. What we need is better discipline, renewed focus, and commitment to the process. With that, recovery is achievable.”

You’ve highlighted the January transfer window. What specifically should be done during that period?

“The January window must be approached with clarity and discipline. Recruitment should be strictly based on need, quality, and immediate impact. We must avoid panic signings, because that often creates more problems than solutions.
At the same time, there must be honest assessment of the current squad. Players must understand that wearing the Plateau United jersey comes with responsibility. Discipline, dedication, and professionalism are non-negotiable. Every player must give 100 percent, on and off the pitch. Those who cannot meet that standard should make way for those who can. Football rewards commitment.”

“I want to sincerely thank the fans for their passion and loyalty. Their concerns are genuine, and their emotions are understandable. But I appeal for patience and continued support. A football team is not rebuilt overnight, especially when key changes are required.
The January transfer window provides an opportunity to correct lapses and strengthen weak areas. Crucial matches are ahead including the game against Kano Pillars in Katsina and the final fixture against Abia Warriors in Jos. These matches are important, and the players must rise with discipline and determination.
I assure the fans that efforts are being made to restore Plateau United to its rightful position. With patience, unity, and the right decisions, the club will finish the season strongly.”
