University of Benin to Honour Amb. Sheni with Prestigious Distinguished Alumnus Award

In recognition of his outstanding professional achievements and contributions to societal development, Amb. Nanpon Danjuma Sheni has been selected to receive the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Benin Alumni Association.

The official letter, dated 2nd October 2025 and signed by Hon. Benjamin O. Omere, Secretary General of the Alumni Association, was exclusively sighted by Trill Times News. It highlights that the award is reserved for alumni who have excelled in their careers and made remarkable contributions to the growth and development of the Association.

The award investiture will take place during the University of Benin Global Homecoming (GHC) between 20th and 23rd November 2025, with the ceremony scheduled for Saturday, 22nd November 2025 at 2:00 pm, alongside other distinguished honorees.

Amb. Sheni, a former Federal Permanent Secretary, is widely respected for his meritorious service in the Federal Civil Service, rising through the ranks to the pinnacle of his career. Known for his cool-headed and soft-spoken demeanour, he has also made significant contributions to community development through his leadership roles as National President of the Tarok Sociocultural Organization (Nwang Ishi O’Tarok Development Association, NIODA) and the Plateau State Development Association (PIDAN).

Married with children, Amb. Sheni’s recognition by his alma mater underscores his dedication to professional excellence and societal service, setting a standard for current and future generations of alumni.

The University of Benin Alumni Association’s acknowledgment of Amb. Sheni adds another feather to the cap of a distinguished career and a life devoted to public service and community advancement.
