A social and political critic, Buhari Wase was today arraigned before Wase Magistrate Court for ‘criticizing’ the Council Chairman, Hon Hamisu Mohammed Anani over the spate of rising insecurity, drug abuse and farming dispute in the locality
Wase who took to social media in Hausa posted “Wase Local Government Area is facing significant security challenges”
He listed the issues to include: “Armed Robbery: A major issue affecting the Bashar District, causing fear and displacement among residents. The problem is attributed to political interests and lack of effective governance”.
Wase also said “Riverbank Farming Dispute: A longstanding dispute between the Tarok (Yargam) and Hausa communities over land ownership, which has led to violence and injuries. Despite court judgments in favor of the Hausa community, the issue remains unresolved due to political interference.”
He also said “Drug Abuse: A growing concern in Wase, particularly among youth, leading to violent behavior and criminal activities. Politicians are accused of protecting and sponsoring these activities for their own gain.”
Wase, however irked the Council Chairman when he inscribed the Council Chairman’s picture in the middle of dead bodies pictures who were believed to be victims of insecurity
Though Wase called “for urgent action to address these issues, including”, he accused the Council Chairman for lacking “Effective governance and security measures to tackle armed robbery, land dispute and drug abuse.”
Confirming his arrest to Trill Times News, Wase said “I was granted bail after being taken to court today in Wase by the Wase Council Chairman”
He explained that he was arraigned before the magistrate court in Wase for speaking against what he felt was leadership failure
He said though he prayed “for peace, stability, and prosperity in Wase and for leaders to prioritize the welfare and security of their constituents”, the Council Chairman felt offended by the insertion of his picture in the midst of death bodies
As at the time of filing this report neither the Council Chairman nor his Chief Press Secretary could be reached for their view
