…Donates 500,000 for refreshment, 500,000 each to Yenzem and Yenbyen Tarok
The honourable Commissioner for Works in Plateau State, Hon Ubandoma Joshua Changtim Laven, PhD has challenged Tarok Youth to be focused, frank and fearless in providing pressure group leadership to Tarok nation while carrying everyone along
Dr Laven stated this on Sunday, 3rd August 2025 at Makeri House, Temple Road Jos where the umbrella body of Tarok Youth, Tarok Progressive Youth Association (TAPYA) held it’s second Ntim Isur Ovanzem ko Ovanbyen O’Tarok
The former Chairman of Langtang North expressed satisfaction with the leadership of the Youth which he alluded to it as the reason he changed his initial stance of distancing himself from the Association
He said “just like late President Yar’Adua, he wasn’t accepted initially but today he is the most celebrated President in history. So also is what TAPYA leadership under Amb Miri Timnan Nyantau is doing”
Going down memory lane to their days in student activism with the TAPYA President, Dr Laven recalled with nostalgia how the TAPYA President was brought on board as NAPSS President in 2005 and he did exactly what was required of him.
He declared his support for TAPYA and pledged renewed commitment to making Tarok Youth the pride of all Youth in the State
The former Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development pointed out that “as Youth, we are the soul and strength of Tarok nation, therefore, we must provide leadership that shuns clannish and political sentiments. TAPYA must be that pressure group that defends the interest of Tarok nation fearlessly”
Giving an account of his stewardship in office and the laudable achievements of His Excellency, Barr Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s led administration in Tarok land, the Commissioner rolled out a number of ongoing projects in Tarok land and intended ones
He called on the Youth to massively register for Voter’s cards and ensure that their votes count. He appealed to them to support Gov Mutfwang led administration so that Tarok nation will continue to benefit more from the government
Dr Laven announced to the excitement of Tarok Youth the working synergy and cordial relationship among Tarok political elites regardless of party affiliation and urged the Youth to shun politics of bitterness
Responding to the appeal of the Yenzem Tarok 2025, Ephraim Nimmak over their withheld prizes, three months after the contest has been won and lost, Dr Laven expressed disappointment with the delay
He said the prolonged withholding of their prizes dents the whole Tarok nation and not just NIODA. He tasked the TAPYA President to work closely with him to redeem the winners prizes.
To support the winners, Hon Laven announced a donation of #500,000 to the two of them and an additional 500,000 to TAPYA for refreshment
