The Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area, Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, has officially flagged off the distribution of fertilizers to farmers across the LGA as part of efforts to support agricultural productivity and ensure food security.
The well-attended event brought together key stakeholders, traditional rulers, farmers’ associations, and representatives from various groups within the LGA. In a goodwill message, the Galadiman Langtang, Chief Poyi, expressed his appreciation to the Executive Chairman for what he described as a timely intervention in support of the farming community. He commended Hon. Tyem’s proactive leadership and commitment to the welfare of his people.
While addressing attendees, Hon. Tyem acknowledged and appreciated all groups and individuals present at what he called “a critical gathering for the future of Langtang North.” He urged everyone to continue supporting the “Time is Now” development agenda. He also extended his profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Plateau State, the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and the Plateau State chapter of ALGON for their collaborative roles in making the fertilizer distribution possible.
In a moment of solidarity and appreciation, Hon. Tyem called on the audience to give a standing ovation to the Executive Governor of Plateau State. H.E Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.
The Chairman emphasized the importance of addressing food security, noting that when communities face food shortages, it often gives rise to social unrest and other vices. He stated that this fertilizer distribution is a strategic and deliberate step towards boosting local agricultural output.
Hon. Tyem announced that each beneficiary is entitled to one bag of NPK 20:10:10 and one bag of Urea. He made it clear that the fertilizers are not for sale, warning sternly that anyone caught attempting to commercialize the items will face appropriate sanctions.
He concluded by reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the agricultural sector and the overall development of Langtang North LGA.
