President of the 10th Senate and former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Sen. Godswill Akpabio has issued a stern warning to the leaders of the newly formed political coalition, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), declaring that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will firmly resist any attempt to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, similar to what transpired with former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.
According to a report by DAILY POST on Saturday, 12 July, 2025, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has issued the strong caution in Abuja, the nation’s capital while addressing reporters, Akpabio accused the ADC-led bloc of hatching a covert agenda aimed at undermining the current administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We are fully aware of your underground strategies to remove President Tinubu from power. What happened to Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 will not be allowed to repeat itself under this administration,” he stated firmly.
He encouraged members of the APC to remain steadfast in their allegiance and reassured them that the Tinubu led government remains committed to fulfilling its campaign promises and development goals.
Meanwhile, the ADC coalition has reportedly been engaging with other opposition stakeholders in preparation for mounting a formidable challenge to the APC in the next election cycle.
Although the group has yet to issue an official reply to Akpabio’s accusations, several prominent figures within the coalition have, in the past, criticized the APC for its handling of the economy and rising insecurity, maintaining that the nation is in urgent need of transformative leadership.
