Lagos, 15 November 2025 – The much anticipated clash between Ikorodu City of Lagos and Plateau United Football Club of Jos billed for Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Sunday, 16th November, 2025 is already gathering storm and attracting attention. This is due to the concerns surrounding Plateau United Football Club’s conditions under which their team trained this evening ahead of tomorrow’s NPFL Matchday 13.
According to information available to Trill Times News Sports Desk, it is gathered that while Plateau United were granted access to the designated training pitch, they were not allowed to train exclusively and had to share the field with their opponents, contrary to NPFL guidelines that give visiting teams sufficient time and space for pre-match preparation.
Further complicating matters, Plateau United’s training session was reportedly conducted in near darkness as adequate lighting was not provided, limiting the effectiveness of the session and preventing proper preparation for the crucial fixture.
Speaking to our reporter, Amb Miri Timnan Nyantau (M.T.N), a football administrator said if is confirmed, then, “this treatment is unacceptable and undermines fair play in Nigerian football”.
He continued that “if the team had to adapt under difficult conditions, then such maltreatment should not be tolerated. He called on the “NFF, NPFL, and NFRA to ensure that all teams have fair access to training facilities and proper conditions for match preparation.”
The United Nation Mayor of Peace stressed that clubs in the country must be “commitment to professionalism and fair play and urged football authorities to take steps to prevent such incidents in the future”.
Tomorrow’s match is expected to proceed under close scrutiny to ensure fairness and impartial officiating.
