LAGOS – Fifth term elected member of the House of Representatives and APC candidate for Langtang North/Langtang South Federal Constituency, Beni Butmak Lar, has called on Tarok youths and the wider Plateau community in Lagos to throw their full support behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Lar made the appeal during the formal inauguration of the Lagos Chapter of the Tarok Progressive Youth Association (TAPYA), the umbrella body of Tarok youths worldwide over the weekend, held at Plateau Liaison House, Lagos. The event also featured a fundraising drive aimed at supporting skill acquisition programmes and youth empowerment initiatives.
In a major show of support for the programme, Lar donated N1 million towards youth empowerment and vocational training projects.
Addressing the gathering, the daughter of Plateau State’s first civilian governor, the late Solomon Daushep Lar, highlighted what she described as the notable achievements of President Tinubu’s administration in infrastructure development, economic reforms, youth-focused programmes and efforts to reposition Nigeria’s economy.
She urged Tarok youths and members of the Plateau community residing across Lagos to remain politically active and mobilise support for the President.
“President Tinubu has shown courage in taking difficult decisions aimed at securing a better future for our nation. His administration is laying foundations that will benefit generations to come. As responsible citizens and stakeholders in Nigeria’s future, we must support leadership that is working to move the country forward,” she said.
Lar further stressed that youth empowerment remains one of the most effective tools for tackling unemployment, reducing social vices and promoting national development.
According to her, meaningful investments in skills acquisition and entrepreneurship will equip young people with the knowledge and opportunities needed to become productive contributors to society.
“The future of every nation rests on its young people. When youths are empowered with skills and opportunities, communities become safer, economies grow stronger and the country develops faster. We must continue to invest in our youths because they are the driving force of national progress,” she stated.
The APC House of Representatives candidate also encouraged young people to take active interest in governance and democratic processes, noting that their participation is critical to shaping the direction of the country.
She described the youth as the vanguard of society and urged them to support leaders committed to development, unity and progress.
The inauguration ceremony was performed by the National President of TAPYA, Amb Miri Timnan Nyantau (M.T.N), who charged members of the newly inaugurated chapter to remain committed to the ideals of unity, service and community development.
Nyantau said the association would continue to provide a platform for mentoring young people, preserving Tarok cultural values and promoting initiatives that advance the welfare of Tarok communities across Nigeria and beyond.
The event attracted several prominent personalities, including former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Selcap Dalung, alongside Northern leaders reside in Lagos, professionals, youth groups and other distinguished guests.
Speaking on the significance of the gathering, participants described Lar as a consistent advocate of youth development whose contributions to education, empowerment and community advancement have continued to impact lives across Plateau State.
Many attendees expressed confidence in her leadership credentials and pledged support for her aspiration to return to the National Assembly, describing her as a tested and experienced representative with a strong record of service.
