With unimaginable pain and shock, Tarok Progressive Youth Association (TAPYA), the Umbrella body of Tarok Youth Worldwide witnessed the day we dreaded and feared so much which has befallen us making it is extremely difficult for us to put together words to celebrate a revered, unusual and uncommon life of a selfless icon, Gen. J.T Useni whose demise sent ripples of sorrow throughout Nigeria particularly amongst the Tarok people
A figure of massive significance, as an Army General, JT Useni was a man of steel who took down an enemy where necessary yet gentle and down to earth as he was sophisticated and full of class, disguised in simplicity. He was a fighter with a human heart who spilled the milk of human kindness for the good of friends and foes alike
During his tenure as the Military Governor of Bendel State, his leadership was marked by innovative policies that focused on education, healthcare and agriculture that significantly benefitted the people
As a politician and a Senator, his multifaceted life was rooted in deep commitment to service and community leaving an indelible mark on the senatorial district. His military background contributed to his leadership style, which was characterised by discipline, vision and the earnest desire to uplift others
As an emancipator and exceptional philanthropist, Baba Mai Tuwo literally translated to mean the Father of Food earned a reputation as a cheerful giver, one who was always ready to assist the less privileged irrespective of tribe or religion
As a role model and an example of what it means to drive community development with passion, the passing of Gen Useni has left a profound void in our hearts. Baba leaves behind the legacy of empowerment, hope and the belief that one can truly make a difference
Though Baba Mai Tuwo may no longer walk and dance with his infectious smiles among us, his determination, visions and dedication to humanity will continue to live in our hearts. We are inspired to carry forth his legacy with even more passion and zeal that he exemplified throughout his life
