The Coalition Of Plateau State Indigenous Ethnic Youths Nationalities, Southern Zone, an umbrella body representing the diverse ethnic youth groups in Plateau South Senatorial District has unequivocally distanced itself from the planned protest against the appointment of Dr Cyril Tsenyil as the Managing Director of North Central Development Commission (NCDC) as published by Sahara Reporter endorsing instead the credentials and qualifications of Dr. Tsenyil.

The Coalition in a statement issued on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in Jos, the Plateau State Capital and signed by its Coordinator, Amb. Miri Timnan Nyantau who doubles as the National President of Tarok Progressive Youth Association (TAPYA), the umbrella body of Tarok Youths Worldwide said “the Coalition Of Plateau State Indigenous Ethnic Youths Nationalities, Plateau South Senatorial Zone, the umbrella body of all the tribal youths associations in the zone wishes to unequivocally distance itself from the so-called planned protest by a non-existent youth group as published by Sahara Reporters against the appointment of an illustrious son of the State and a critical stakeholder from our senatorial zone”.

The Co-ordinator said that “instead of applauding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for finding a Plateau Son worthy to pioneer the development of the region, it is disheartening that some individuals decided to plan a protest that only represents their selfish interest and not that of the State”

Amb Nyantau while celebrating the appointment of Dr. Cyril Tsenyil justified his appointment as noteworthy considering his experience as the immediate past Accountant General of the state. “Presient Tinubu’s appointment of Dr Tsenyil as the Managing Director of the North Central Development Commission is widely celebrated by us considering his extensive experience in public service and community development. We are not only congratulating him but endorsing his appointment as being well-intentioned because it reflects a growing appreciation for meritocracy over sentiment in leadership selections by the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces”

As a voice for rational dialogue, inclusivity, and peaceful engagement, we wish to place on records that “Dr. Tsenyil’s track record as the AG of the State showcases his commitment to efficient governance and his ability to work collaboratively with diverse interests, the experience needed to ignite development across the 7 states that make up the region”.

According to the Youths, “appointing leaders based on their qualifications rather than their ethnic backgrounds has long-term implications for national unity and development and President Tinubu has once again proven that he is a master strategist when it comes to the selection and recruitment of people to deliver on the renewed hope of his administration”

The Coalition believes that “Dr. Tsenyil is not only qualified but also closer to realizing the objectives of the North Central Development Commission, which include promoting infrastructural development, increasing investment opportunities, and enhancing the socio-economic conditions of the region”.

In explaining their rationale, the Coalition noted: “Rather than succumbing to the divisive and polarizing tendencies that have characterized our political discourse as a state in recent years, we must embrace the principle of recognizing and celebrating competence while celebrating those God almighty has lifted”

“We must unite beyond political and regional differences and attract development to the state. Through this unity of purpose, we will overcome the enemies of the state as well”

The Coalition assured President Tinubu of maximum support saying to whom much is given, much is expected and “President Tinubu has given as much in Southern Zone. We are fortunate to have the Acting Vice Chancellor of Yakubu Gowon University, Federal Commissioner of the FCT, Director of Planning, Benue River Basin Authority amongst many other appointments. We will remain thankful to President Tinubu”

The youths pray God to continue to bless the President while urging the newly appointed MD of the Development Commission a remarkable tenure
