Samaritan Hotel, Jos, October 1 – The fight against breast cancer took on a vibrant new colour in Jos as the Pink Lip Gloss Edition for Breast Cancer Awareness lit up the Samaritan Hotel, Rayfield, on October 1.
Organized by Ochaworth Leadership and Community Development Initiative in collaboration with Pout and Play Perfect Lip Hydration, the program creatively used pink lip gloss – a symbol of femininity, resilience, and unity – to ignite conversations around early detection, preventive care, and survivor support.
The event brought together survivors, health professionals, advocates, and community members who joined in wearing pink lip gloss as a sign of solidarity with those battling breast cancer and in remembrance of lives lost.
Inspirational testimonies from survivors and expert talks from healthcare practitioners underscored the importance of regular screening and lifestyle choices in prevention.
The atmosphere blended beauty with purpose, proving that awareness can be spread through the simplest of symbols.
“This program reminds us that awareness can be beautiful. Something as simple as lip gloss can start conversations that save lives,” said Dirmicit Pyentam, founder of Ochaworth Leadership and Community Development Initiative.
According to the organizers, proceeds from the event and product sales will support local breast cancer charities and fund free screening programs for underserved communities across Plateau State.
The Pink Lip Gloss program left participants with not only glossy smiles, but with a renewed commitment to advocacy, reminding all that in the fight against breast cancer, every gesture counts – even the stroke of a lip gloss.
