The Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council, Hon. Pirfa Jingfa Tyem, has joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary, calling on citizens to reflect on the journey so far and commit to building a better future.
In a broadcast to the people of Langtang North on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, Hon. Tyem outlined the strides recorded by his administration since assuming office on October 11th, 2024.
He highlighted achievements in education, water, health, security, agriculture, governance, and land reforms, noting that his administration is laying a solid foundation for sustainable development.
Among the key milestones he mentioned were:
Purchase of 1,000 JAMB forms for indigent students and the construction of a new school block in Somung.
Drilling of boreholes across 15 wards to tackle water scarcity, with 3 more projects underway.
Recruitment of over 40 medical staff and 70 security personnel, as well as leading Plateau State in malaria prevention campaigns.
Procurement of 21 motorcycles to support security patrols and education agencies.
Introduction of monthly stipends for Mai Angwas, beginning October 2025.
Partnership with a major brewery to establish barley farming, with the first batch of 100 farmers commencing this October.
Revival of Ngapak FM with a permanent broadcasting license for Tarok land.
Reactivation of the Land Allocation and Administration Committee (LAAC) to process Statutory Rights of Occupancy.
Hon. Tyem stressed that while his administration does not claim perfection, it is committed to transparency, inclusion, and accountability.
“We are not perfect. But we are committed. We are building. And we are laying a foundation that will stand the test of time,” he declared.
The Chairman thanked traditional leaders, civil servants, and the people of Langtang North for their trust and partnership, urging them to remain united and focused.
He concluded with a call to action:
“As Nigeria celebrates 65 years of independence, let us renew our commitment to building a Langtang North that is safe, inclusive, and full of opportunity. The future is ours – and the next generation is watching.”
