Plateau State Polytechnic Barkin Ladi has continued to attain new heights and broaden the educational scope of the institution. The state-owned populous institution under the pragmatic leadership of Dr Clement Selchum Chirman has on 1st September, 2025 announced the commencement of 20 new Higher National Programs. This comes as a delight to many citizens who hitherto have resorted to furthering their education in the neighbouring institutions like Federal Polytechnic Bauchi and Lafia
According to the Registrar of the institution, Mrs Evelyn Y. Ayuba, the new programs are in the School of Environmental Sciences, School of Engineering, School of Science and Technology, and School of Information Science and Communication Technology
Trill Times News reports that School of Environmental Sciences which has been operating for almost two decades, now have HND in Building Technology, Estate Management and Valuation and Quantity Surveying.
Prospective candidates who wish to further their studies in School of Engineering can choose from a variety of HND Programs in Electrical Electronics with options in Instrumentation and Control Engineering. HND in Computer Engineering, Foundry Engineering Technology, Metallurgical and Material Engineering are also available as new programs.

HND Mineral Resource and Petroleum Engineering has been unbundled into Geological Engineering and Petroleum Engineering. This is to ensure more specialization and make the graduates more employable
For admission seekers in School of Science and Technology, they need not look farther as HND in Food Science Technology and Leisure & Tourism Management with options in: Events, Festival & Tourism Management are now available
Other HND Programs are in Library & Information Science while HND Computer Science has options in: Software and Web Development, Computer Cloud Networking, Cyber Security and Artificial Intelligence Technology.
Mass Communication has been unbundled into Journalism and Media Studies, and Strategic Communication & Media Studies
The Registrar, Mrs Ayuba advised candidates to “begin the capture of their Data through the Polytechnic admission portal: www.apply.plapolyportal.com to fill the online form. The form costs #5000 while a non refundable screening fee of #2000 only applies.
According to the School, all online activities on purchase, completion and submission of the completed forms must be concluded on or before 10th October, 2025
Trill Times News reports that departments like Building Technology, Computer Engineering etc have started witnessing massive influx of former National Diploma students into their departments inquiring about the commencement of the sales of the program.
The newly approved programs have now been uploaded to the school portal
