Tarok Progressive Youth Association (TAPYA), the umbrella body of Tarok youths worldwide, has expressed appreciation to Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, for appointing retired Brigadier General Nash Yakubu as the new Coordinator of Operation Rainbow, the state’s internal security outfit.
In a press statement issued on Wednesday, TAPYA described the appointment as “a round peg in a round hole,” saying the retired military officer possesses the experience, discipline, and leadership qualities needed to strengthen the state’s security architecture. The statement was signed by the National Publicity Secretary of TAPYA, Comrade C.C. Dashe, on behalf of the National President, Ambassador Miri Timnan Nyantau (M.T.N.).
The Association noted that Gen. Yakubu distinguished himself throughout his military career and expressed confidence that his wealth of experience would bring renewed direction to Operation Rainbow.
TAPYA said it was optimistic that the new Coordinator would improve intelligence gathering, strengthen community security, and help reduce the wave of unprovoked attacks on innocent communities across Plateau State.
The youth body also thanked Governor Mutfwang for what it described as his continued confidence in the Tarok people through appointments into key positions in his administration.
According to the Association, the Governor has not only entrusted Tarok sons and daughters with sensitive responsibilities but has also continued to execute important development projects across Tarokland.
“As a people, we believe in standing with those who stand with us. Governor Mutfwang has consistently shown confidence in the Tarok nation, and we owe him our gratitude and support,” the statement read.
TAPYA further assured the Governor of the continued support of Tarok youths, particularly as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
The Association stated that its support is based on what it described as the Governor’s inclusive style of leadership, commitment to development, and recognition of the contributions of the Tarok people to the growth of Plateau State.
While congratulating Brig. Gen. Nash Yakubu on his appointment, TAPYA wished him wisdom and success in his new assignment and expressed hope that his leadership would further strengthen peace and security across the state.
